I Would Describe Myself As
Hi, and thanks for reading a little bit about me.
I have been a self-employed lawyer in Los Angeles for more than 30 years. Now I telecommute from home in Las Vegas, and travel to LA only when I have to. I still work many hours – it’s pretty stressful and sometimes difficult to put aside at night, but I can finally foresee a day when I get to put all of that behind me and refocus on other things – particularly someone special.
My kids are adults with families of their own. I wish I could spend more time with them, but they all live out of State. Having a close family and a large group of friends to share special occasions, birthdays and holidays is something I have really missed in my life. I like talking to kids about their schoolwork and the world around them so if you have kids, I'm good with that. I can tutor math, science, history and civics - do they still teach that stuff?
My health is excellent, though I could use some encouragement to venture into a gym and perhaps lose a few pounds. I like to walk, particularly with someone else and particularly when I travel, but more about that below.
You won’t find me huddled with a bunch of guys drinking beer and staring at a football game … or two, or three. I don’t really get the fascination. Instead, my contact sport is politics and we’ve certainly had a lot of that lately. Yes, I do occasionally yell at some newscaster or commentator who misses the obvious, or who tries to avoid a question. I follow a very wide range of issues. On the foreign side it's things like Brexit, a developing anti-Iranian coalition, a growing Chinese hegemony and military equipment and procurement - say that 10 times fast. At home it's issues like education, immigration, regulation, civil liberties and many more. I love a good political discussion, but only if it is based on facts, reason and logic.
I like to travel: by car, by train, by boat and by air. I’m not into sitting on a beach or strolling through museums. I want to be out with people, learning about language, culture and history - sharing all of that with a best friend. My secret retirement goal: to live in different cities around the world for months at a time. Interested? I also want to learn to play the trumpet (Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power are good examples) and to improve my dancing. I'm all in for music from the 60's to the 80's and more.
In a relationship, I admit that I’m not great with flowers, birthday gifts or anniversary surprises, but physical contact is really important to me. I love walking arm in arm, holding hands, dancing, cuddling in front of a fire, spooning all night, sharing a hot shower, Sunday morning in bed until noon and yes, I can even tolerate the occasional “chick flick” curled up on the couch. I’m also pretty sensitive about things like leaving the seat down. You will not lack for attention or affection. In short, Los Angeles born and bred, but with Midwest values.
I recently ended a relationship which I thought was "it", but there were too many differences - world views, food preferences, religion, work ethic, music and movie choices and more.
I want a true partner with similar financial resources who can contribute to our lives, share interests, and lots of family and friends to share. I hope she is cuddly, affectionate and likes physical attention. She will be thoughtful and supportive, willing to be spoiled without becoming spoiled, funny and creative. Hopefully she will be able to find the perfect gift for every occasion and will always know just what to wear for every event. I want a partner who is my champion just as I will be hers.
I don't expect "perfect", but I do want "perfect for me". If this sounds like you, please don't be shy. There's no way to know unless you reach out, even if it's just to say hello. At worst we will spend an hour sharing a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. At best it could also turn into something really special. Let's find out.
