Je me décrirais comme
I was born and raised in Seattle, but have lived and worked in several places around the Northwest (Bellingham, Ellensburg, Pullman and Coeur d'Alene). I worked on a ranch in my teen years, so I have an understanding of the country life, I had a wonderful childhood and parents that were married for 50 years. I'm also Irish, Scottish and Danish in heritage. The Mc was dropped when we came to North America.
I've never been married , but have lived together. I do have some long friendships of 40+ years of both genders... it's all good.
While we're at it, the hair color is mostly gray, that's mixed isn't it? And the pet - other, are guppies, but would love to have a dog choose me.
Personality? Ok, traveler in life... how come easy going or thinker isn't there?
I've retired from 22 years of doing diagnostic ultrasound and feel that I've given something good back to the world by working in medicine. Along that line, I was cofounder of Footloose Sailing for disabled people 22 years ago. I'm still on the board and participate in all the events with my 22 foot sailboat Surprise. I own my home and it's the house I grew up in.
When I meet a woman I look at her eyes and hands, the rest is nice too. I'd like to meet someone that can be crazy and thoughtful, playfull and open to talking about new ideas, not afraid to tackle a messy job, capable and lovable, spiritual and has a love of animals. She'd be around center-right in politics.
I do like Glenn Beck and Rick Steves, also Anthony Bourdain and JFK go figure.
Recently:
I believe in less politics, less government, less spending, more accountability... and more live and let live.
Don't sweat the petty stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff.
Less bark, more wag.
I've been asked what warms my heart:
acts of kindness
an agile mind
a good story
a good laugh
a happy dog
Can we go skinny dipping in some reality?
If I fall, will you award me points for how graceful I was?
Will my wheels scare you off?
Can we tell each other stories until we fall asleep?
Will you plant bush beans with me?
Can we have fire building contests?
Would you sail with me into the sunset?
Can we be real like the skin horse in the Velveteen Rabbit?
Do you dance like nobody is watching?
Can you make a kiss intriguing?
Would my sense of simple fashion bore you to tears?
If we're both out on the same limb, I'll hand you the saw...
A friend of mine lost his wife, and he says that after 60 years of marriage what he
misses most is waking up next to her each morning. So in a nut shell, that's it. To have
someone that you look forward to starting every day with.
Honesty section:
In 1973 I was full of beer and hormones on a float trip on the Yakima River. We stopped by a bridge and I got bored and started diving off the bridge. On the second dive I hit the bottom of the river and floated away... to make a short story shorter, I've been living an active life in a wheelchair ever since.
I realize that POF is not to far off of blind dating with a picture, and I'm more of a realtime type guy with the initial see and be seen aspect of meeting someone. There's so much more conveyed through eye contact, body language, voice and generally how one goes through the world. Being an active guy, I'm attracted to women that get out there and do things and that runs headlong into the ability-disability issues and what's attractive to them. For me it's been an ongoing conundrum.
I used to be a very active SCUBA diver and got my recert after I got hurt. I haven't done it much since the sailing became so big in my life, but I love snorkeling or just swimming anywhere the water is warm.
